Japanese Drama
I know i know, the "in" people now are the koreans. Yes, they do have their fair share of pretty babes, like my favourites,
Like i said, although the Korean craze is on now, never forget the godfather of drama serials, the Japanese.
and Jeon Ji Hyun
but the thing is, before the Koreans "came into power", the Japs ruled the airwaves in my growing years. You see i'm a late bloomer for Japanese drama shows, when i was younger growing up in the early 90s, my sis would always be tuning in to these Japanese shows, by Kimura Takuya as well as Sorimachi Takashi. and i would be like .. whatever .. you know, shooting hoops or exercising got most of my attention then. My sis would be a fan of these japanese drama serials when subsequently buy the DVDs and stuff.
Just recently, after packing up my overly clustered room, I saw these DVDs stacked in the corner of the cupboard, there were loads of them ! I took them out, and immediately recognised a couple, like Majo no Jouken the show where by the teacher falls in love with the student. Super popular during that time and i remember watching bits and pieces of it. I singled out a couple of shows and asked my sister which one i should watch first.
i watched this first coz the story line got my attention, and its probably one of the few shows that i vividly remember from last time. It was good, some love story shit. I'm not usually a big fan of love stories but this one was good. And to top that off, the show featured the super chio Matsushima Nanako
This was a recommendation from my sister, I popped in the first disc and never stopped. It was considered quite a feat coz I am teaching, schooling and working now. This show featured the super cute Yamaguchi Tomoko.
My god ! I love it when she smiles ! Long Vacation also features the younger Kimura Takuya falling in love with the older Yamaguchi Tomoko. This show also featured a stellar soundtrack with the ledgendary Anna and David's Here we are again. Link to this song here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mutbjqB5glo i've uploaded the song to share it with everyone !
Now, after watching this two shows, it sparked my interest in Japanese Drama and I now understood what the fuss was all about in the past. These shows were suprisingly good ! It featured good love stories as well as original humour, not some lame shit we get now with the koreans. I still love Jjang Nara and Jeon Ji Hyun though (:
Another thing to note, this two shows had relationships with a younger guy with an older woman. It really got me thinking about my past relationship with June. Thinking how nice it would be to have a happy ending like the shows. But hey .. no one remains a virgin right ? Everyone gets fucked by life one way or another.
Another recommendation by my sister, this show is light hearted and it is full of soul. This one stars the cute Hirosue Ryoko
as well as Sorimachi Takashi and Takenouchi Yutaka. Its about escaping from the hectic city life to a simple beach life. Super good show for stressed out people. Best of all, it is set in the beach ! Takashi Sorimachi is super funny in this show. Beach Boys also potrays the warmth of family and loved ones.
After beach boys, i thought no other shows would get me interested enough to watch them. Then came along GTO - Great Teacher Onizuka.
Starring the funny Sorimachi Takashi as Onizuka ! Man .. this show is good and suprisingly different from the first 3 i've watched. Onizuka's violent way of handling things without compromising his passion for teaching and his sole purpose to help students really hits the spot.
Some shows i took longer than others due the my conflicting schedule, but anyway, i've finished them all in perhaps a span of 2 months.
Like i said, although the Korean craze is on now, never forget the godfather of drama serials, the Japanese.
So, Japanese or Korean girls ?
You Decide !
